Three Documentary Filmmakers: Errol Morris, Ross Mcelwee, Jean Rouch (2009,PDF)

Knjiga o tri reditelja koji su čitave svoje živote posvetili dokumentarnim filmovima. Što se tiče Ross McElweea, za sad sam postavio samo njegov masterpis Sherman's March (1986), dok je Errol Morris već, pa može se reći, domaćin na ovom blogu, sa čak 8 radova, od kojih bi možda izdvojio First Person (2000), zbog skroz nesvakidašnje forme dokumentovanja stvarnosti. Treći u priči, Francuz Jean Rouch, je sada već pokojna faca, imam neke njegove dokumentarce, ali se još nisam usudio da ih postavim, no o tom potom, biće i toga, niti jedan (ne)bitniji reditelj neće biti zapostavljen, a do tad uživajte u ovom pdf štivu.

Hollywood Biographies - Grace Kelly (2006)

Evo nešto spešli za moju "bolesnu" sabraću, jer svi smo mi "pomalo" sick-sick-fuck bolesni, samo što to neki iskusno kriju, no neće još dugo. Dakle, Grace madafakin' Kelly, prelepa i odlična glumica, princeza od Monaka, ali ono što je mene ponajviše zaintrigiralo, je njeno članstvo u stanovitom kultu Order of the Solar Temple, tako da postoji teorija zavere da je njena prerana smrt zapravo vezana za ovu organizaciju koja je navodno odgovorna za mnogobrojna ubistva i samoubistva svojih članova. Već sam gledao na TV-u jedan dokumentarac o njenom životu, gde je ta veza sa kultom jako lepo opisana, ali se ovaj više bavi karijerom i lepim stvarima iz njenog života. Dakle, lepo, lepše...zna se.

"On November 12, 1929, Grace Patricia Kelly was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to wealthy parents. Her girlhood was uneventful for the most part, but one of the things she desired was to become an actress which she had decided on at an early age. After her high school graduation in 1947, Grace struck out on her own, heading to New York's bright lights to try her luck there. Grace worked some as a model and made her debut on Broadway in 1949. She also made a brief foray into the infant medium of television. Not content with the work in New York, Grace moved to Southern California for the more prestigious part of acting -- motion pictures. In 1951, she appeared in her first film entitled Fourteen Hours (1951) when she was 22. It was a small part, but a start nonetheless. The following year she landed the role of Amy Kane in High Noon (1952), a western starring Gary Cooper and Lloyd Bridges which turned out to be very popular. In 1953, Grace appeared in only one film, but it was another popular one. The film was Mogambo (1953) where Grace played Linda Nordley. The film was a jungle drama in which fellow cast members, Clark Gable and Ava Gardner turned in masterful performances. It was also one of the best films ever released by MGM. Although she got noticed with High Noon, her work with director Alfred Hitchcock, which began with Dial M for Murder (1954) made her a star. Her standout performance in Rear Window (1954) brought her to prominence. As Lisa Fremont, she was cast opposite James Stewart, who played a crippled photographer who witnesses a murder in the next apartment from his wheelchair.

Grace stayed busy in 1954 appearing in five films. Grace would forever be immortalized by winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Georgie Elgin opposite Bing Crosby in The Country Girl (1954). In 1955, Grace once again teamed with Hitchcock in To Catch a Thief (1955) co-starring Cary Grant. In 1956, she played Tracy Lord in the musical comedy High Society (1956) which also starred Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. The whimsical tale ended with her re-marrying her former husband, played by Crosby. The film was well received. It also turned out to be her final acting performance. Grace had recently met and married Prince Rainier of Monaco. By becoming a princess, she gave up her career. For the rest of her life, she was to remain in the news with her marriage and her three children. On September 14, 1982, Grace was killed in an automobile accident in her adoptive home country. She was just 52 years old."

Šta sam čit'o u poslednjih godinu i kusur dana vol.1

Verovali ili ne, i ja čitam knjige, doduše ne baš redovito, ali tu i tamo mu ga dam. Naravno, ja bi to mnogo više čit'o kad bi u nas bilo literature koja mene zanima, ali pošto takvi radovi jedino mogu da se nabace preko amazona, i to za grdne pare, nisam baš često u prilici da se obradujem. Prva na listi je naravno true-crime literatura, dakle, Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi. Nadam se da svi znamo ko je i šta je Vincent Bugliosi, dakle ljiga od čoveka i neopevana lažovčina, dovoljno je samo reći da je po zanimanju okružni tužilac pa da poštenom čoveku ne bude dobro, tako da je ova knjiga zanimljiva samo iz razloga jer je u njoj prezentovan ceo tok suđenja Čarliju i bandi, i to do naj-naj-sitnijih detalja. Pored zaista bizarnog suđenja, Bugliosi je ovde izneo i neke skroz sulude teorije, nagađanja, lupetanja, ali srećom taj deo ne zauzima previše prostora. U svakom slučaju, meni je letos trebalo tačno 27 dana da pročitam ovog megalodonta od preko 650 strana, s'tim što ništa drugo nisam radio osim što sam čit'o. Naravno, u normalnim okolnostima, uz komp i TV, pa nema šanse da bi to bilo moguće, te sam iskoristio boravak kod tetke u Grčkoj, u nekom divljem kampu bez struje i sranja, tako da sam se nekako izborio, inače, zaista teško, al' bez zajebancije, jer em što sam spor sa tim čitanjem, em što me jebe koncentracija, rastura me. Znači, ako vas zanimaju tzv. Helter Skelter ubistva, i uopšte lik i delo Čarlija Mensona i njegovog ganga, ova knjiga je dobra kao neki uvod za daleko širu priču, dakle nikako ne treba stati na ovome, nego istraživati i dalje, npr. preporučio bih vam, ovako na keca, The Manson File od Nikolasa Schrecka, inače autora najjačeg dokumentarca o čiči, Charles Manson Superstar (1989), jer i sam planiram da naručim ovaj rad čim sakupim mrtvih 34 dolara, a o poštarini da ne pričamo.

Malom Rastku, ali i svoj ostaloj deci (uključujući i mene) kojoj je politika uskratila radosti detinjstva, posvećujem ovaj izuzetan dokumentarac o Džimiju Karteru, jednom od retkih američkih predsednika koji tokom svog mandata nije preterano zasr'o, te je tako ostao upamćen kao svetla tačka u moru crnila, jer setimo se, odma' iza njega je zajahao onaj pajac Regan, sa svojim ratovima protiv droge i sličnim idiotskim akcijama, da ih ne nabrajam. Naravno, moj stav da su svi političari, bez obzira na ideologiju, za odstrel, i dalje stoji, s tim što mora da napomenem da su jedini koje bih izuzeo sa te liste, upravo oni koji su nažalost već ubijeni, a tu naravno prvenstveno mislim na Bobija Kenedija i našeg Zorana Đinđića, s tim što je Zoki u mladosti bio i anarhista, ložio se na Kropotkina, dakle naš čovek, za full rispekt. Karter u ovom dokumentarcu promoviše svoju najnoviju knjigu "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid", u kojoj otvoreno proziva državu Izrael, poredeći njenu politiku sa Aparthejdom, što je opet totalno neubičajeno ako znamo da su svi ostali američki predsednici podržavali Izrael ma šta on činio. Dakle, svaka mu čast, a ti Rastko sijaj, mada bi mog'o malo i da isijavaš, mislim, što da ne ? (125 min)
